Discursive ripple effects in language policy and practice

Abstract The advancement of English as an instrument for the internationalization higher education has foregrounded academic lingua franca (EALF), and case China is no exception. This study focuses on process by which EALF been interpreted negotiated across university policies local practices in China’s internationalized education. Drawing upon nexus analysis multisource data, traced discursive (re)location different scales social activity related to multilingualism at English-medium transnational China. Our illustrates tension between other co-existing languages, presented educational language perceived practiced multilingual students communicative context. findings also show interactive policymaking through administrators opened ideological implementational spaces that linguistically semiotically pluralized scenarios focus.
